Victory Through Praise

In Exodus 17:8-13 there is a curious story where Moses stands at the top of a hill while Joshua goes to fight the Amalekites. In this story Joshua won the battle as long as Moses hands were raised. In Psalms 141:2 David says "may my prayer be counted as incense before you and the lifting up of my hands as the evening offering". In other words he was saying let my lifted hands be as praise to you. The wave offering in Israel was a way of lifting up their hands to recognize God has done it all. Lifting our hands is synonymous with praise. As Moses lifted His hands in praise the enemies of Israel were defeated. I believe when we praise God we magnify our solution not our problem and when we focus on Him our enemies are defeated. Jesus came to give us victory and do you know He was from the tribe of Judah which means praise (Genesis 49:8). If you need victory lift up your hands and praise God! If you are not strong enough you may need some one to help you keep them raised (just ask Moses). It is vital to praise God for victory and to have others around us who can encourage us to walk in praise and thereby continue in victory!
